Risk Manager

As a part of the Ally Risk Underwriting team, the Commercial Credit Risk Manager, Large Exposures is responsible for completing the required due diligence (financial analysis) and underwriting commercial loan proposals (new loans and renewals) for Ally's largest exposure accounts in the automotive sector. The due diligence includes the accurate reporting of findings, via established reporting functions and ensuring corporate compliance and risk management. Preparation of the proposals involves directing in-depth analysis; contact with key client personnel, in addition to communication the internal and external stakeholders. Provides recommendations and supporting arguments to improve company performance and mitigate exposure.

Note: A Senior Risk Analyst (3F) would also be considered for this position based on experience and growth potential.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Review and approval of financial analysis conducted on new and existing wholesale/loan accounts from data obtained from both internal and external sources.
  • Ensure proposals are properly risk rated and are in compliance with corporate policies.
  • Ensure analysis is accurate and recommendations address issues or exceptions to mitigate Ally's risk.
  • Drive underwriting results to meet or exceed targets for volume and turn time.
  • Work collaboratively with matrix partners for the development, production and approval of proposals.
  • Be responsive to all requests for information made by the FDIC, Federal Reserve or internal audit and quality control partners.
  • Actively coach and mentor less-experienced employees to maximize their potential.


  • Undergraduate degree (graduate degree preferred)
  • Thorough understanding of commercial lending (automotive experience preferred)
  • Strong financial analysis and analytic skills
  • Proficient in intermediate MS applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • High level of written and oral communication skills as well as attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and time management abilities
  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
  • Ability to function effectively in a matrix organization
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
