Linux Systems Administrator

Responsibilities:

  • Install, Configure, and Administer the operating system, peripheral devices, networking protocols, and file shares.
  • Perform system administration; security, file and directory permissions, adding/deleting users, etc.
  • Perform software administration; vendor supplied, third-party, and licensing.
  • Ensure system optimization; monitor, troubleshoot and resolve performance issues as they relate to; process, CPU, memory, i/o network, and web server.
  • Assist in the research, evaluation, and purchase of future hardware platforms.
  • Work closely with the application teams to provide integrated planning for operating system upgrades, database upgrades, application upgrades and hardware migrations.
  • Add optimizations to the applications when and where necessary (e. g. logging, security, performance)
  • Continually update architecture and process documentation.
  • Mentor junior system administrators and participate in continuous improvement efforts within TSG - CI and across BISD.

Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • System Administration of Linux 6x, or 7x required
  • Experience working with Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, Nagios or similar performance monitoring product required
  • Experience working with virtualization, including VMware, KVM, or Xen preferred
  • Experience in clustering strongly preferred
  • Experience in Docker or equivalent product preferred
  • Experience with IBM MQ Websphere Application Server (WAS) administration and monitoring preferred- Experience with LDAP, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Routing and Routed Protocols, and NFS preferred
  • Java experience preferred
  • Experience with Oracle or SQL databases, Sharepoint, SSL/TLS, Microsft IIS, Apache, Weblogic, and Tomcat and host-based firewalls preferred

Certifications:

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator or equivalent preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, Math or related experience required

Prior applicable experience:

  • Minimum of five to seven years of experience in System Administration of Linux 6x, or 7x required. Ten years preferred.


Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
