Directs the activities of the Quality Assurance and Sanitation Departments.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Supervise and direct Quality Assurance and Sanitation staff consisting of a QA Supervisor, QA technicians, QA Label and Regulatory Specialist, Microbiologist, Sanitation Manager, Sanitation Assistant Manager and Sanitation team members.
Must be well versed in SQF version 9.
Performs the role of SQF practitioner for the company, responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of the SQF program.
Monitor products and process performance with respect to compliance to established SQF, government, customer, company, and good manufacturing practice.
Report effectiveness to management and implement actions for improvement.
Manage HACCP and Food Safety Plan development, assessments and validations for all products and processes, including records and file maintenance.
Serves as the company liaison for site audits and regulatory inspections.
Interacts on a daily basis with USDA and manages any non-conformances generated by USDA.
Respond to all customer/consumer complaints in a timely manner by conducting root cause analysis and implementing/documenting appropriate corrective/preventive actions.
Ensure that raw materials, finished goods, materials-in-process meet quality and safety specifications.
Conducts supplier audits as required.
Manages internal laboratory activities to include calibration schedule, environmental testing program, sampling plan and shelf-life studies.
Manages product holds and product dispositions.
Develop and execute training programs that support Food Safety and Food Quality objectives in conjunction with our electronic training program.
Oversee plant sanitation programs, pre-operational, and operational programs to ensure sanitary standard operating procedures (SSOPs) and regulatory requirements for food manufacturing.
Provide technical support to corporate senior management, Sales and Production Management.

Champion quality and food safety initiatives to create a Food Safety culture and mindset.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Ability to interact with all company functions and provide technical assistance as needed.
Must possess excellent team building, oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated success managing and/or supervising multi-disciplinary teams and programs.
Comprehensive knowledge of USDA-FSIS and FDA regulations for meat and poultry, seafood, and non-meat perishable products.
Strong leadership and management skills in a high paced environment.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a Science and demonstrated expertise of Food Safety, Quality, and 5 plus years Quality Assurance management experience in a food manufacturing company.
Fresh prepared foods experience preferred.

years experience leading the Quality Assurance department for a small - midsized food manufacturing company.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
HACCP/PCQI, and SQF Certified with a comprehensive knowledge of Microbiology and shelf life programs.
